Well... our tastes wouldn't be the same, but there wouldn't be anything wrong if you did stick to horror movies most of the time. As long as there's a big selection to choose from! And ghost dramas too!

Oh, I love dramas about the supernatural and the occult. In fact, learning about the occult in general is one of my favorite things. It varies from culture to culture and nation to nation. The differences and similarities are all so fascinating!

The occult... isn't that about people who try to call on ghost pokémon to make a link to the other side? [ ...and then get taken there or eaten up. ]

Uh, is it like that back in your world?

Seances are fairly common in my world, yes, because people feel the need to communicate with the dead! I have't really had the chance to experience that myself, but I have read the testimonies of others who have had both positive and negative times when breaching the veil between worlds.

But I didn't know that there were things like that on your world as well. I saw a memory from Cilan about a Yamask, but we didn't speak about the others. Are there many ghost-like Pokémon on your world?

We know about three in my region, but there's a lot more. [ This might not be far from creepy subjects entirely, but Red can work with this one! ] They're linked together by evolution -- has Cilan ever told you about that?

[ He knows the idea people can get when they hear 'evolution'. ]

I would love to meet any of them! I have yet to be so lucky.

[Please show her the ghost Pokemon! Well, any of them in general.]

No, he didn't tell me much about how things work on your world, Red-san. Of course, there wasn't much time during the contest, I'm afraid.

That's alright. [ Because hey, he can do it now. ] When we say evolution, we're talking about a change in the pokémon that can happen instantaneously! --once they receive enough experience, that is. So this pokémon starts off as one we call gastly. It looks like a ball of dark gas, but when it evolves into haunter, it gains claws detached from its body [ he's doing a mock with his hands, but nothing too serious ] and its body is more... shaped, with these kind of spikes coming off its back. And less likely to get blown around by a strong gust of wind. [ Heh. ]

And then the last form is gengar, which has feet and its arms attached. They're all part of the same evolution line. Pansage, Cilan's pokémon -- he can also evolve, if Cilan wanted him to! And Crustle is evolved.

And do you currently have any of these creatures with you, Red-san? What does Pansage-san evolve into? What was Crustle's form before it evolved?

Well... [ Sorry, slow start because where to start with all those questions than to laugh a little. She's much cuter like this... ]

I have one! And you'd have to ask Cilan about those. I don't have that data on my pokédex. But, I think Cilan told me they were...

[ Hmm, let him think. Pansage... Crustle... ]

Semisage, and... Pwebble? [ Does that sound right?? It feels right!! ] I know Pansage evolves if you give them a 'grass stone'! That's a stone infused with their typing. A bunch of pokémon evolve that way!

What's a pokédex? [She does, however, file the fact that she'll now have to ask Cilan much more about his own Pokémon, especially in regards to evolving.]

What are all the types? Do they all have special stones or is there something else that can be used?

Oh-- a pokédex is a device that records the data of the pokémon I meet and catch! A guy updated it to have pokémon outside the region I'm from, but it doesn't have pokémon from Unova. [ Except Cilan's pokémon, and that's only their images... why would you make a pokédex in this fashion, professor.

But no, apparently, Red should have been more prepared for this next question. Gosh, all the types? ]

There's... [ Hold on, he's counting off his fingers.. ] Seven..teen different types? And... I've only seen a few, but they might. I know more about the pokémon in my own region than outside of it. Like a pokémon, eevee-- I didn't know they had four more evolution they could split into, and they already had three!

[ Ah, he should explain, shouldn't he? ] Eevee's a special pokémon that has a multiple of pokémon they can evolve into, even known in Kanto! And they all use stones to do it.

[ As far as he knows. ]

So, it is like a specialized electronic encyclopedia?

[Another note to talk to Cilan more. Yep.

And he should have really been ready to be grilled about all the things because Sonia loves all sorts of knowledge and will retain it forever and ever. (Unless some asshole steals her memories again.)]

What does this eevee look like? Is it very cute as well?

[ He's nodding, and let him answer those both at once-! ]

Eevee's are pretty cute! They're small and brown, and their tails are big and fluffy at the end. [ Is he describing this with hand motions? Yes he is. ] The three evolutions we know about them in Kanto are fire, water, and electric based, and I have the electric type with me here too, but I could show you them all with the pokédex as it records an image of every pokémon I come in contact with--like a specialised electronic encyclopedia, just as you said. I have pansage, crustle, and stunfisk on it because I've been around them. It's hi-tech!

I would love to see all of the Pokémon you have registered in your pokédex whenever you are free! It sounds like a very useful and interesting device to have at your disposal.

[She isn't at all worried about the hand motions. They're perfectly reasonable in her opinion.]

Hm, Red-san, are there others from your world here as well? I have never heard you or Cilan-san speak of them.

There's a few! Uh... there's a guy where Cilan works called Silver, and there's a girl named Leaf who's around. She's from the same region as me, but we don't all know each other from home like you know Komaeda and Hinata. Even Leaf, she's...

[ Ah. He leans back, rubbing at his neck as he looks away, but he returns his gaze back onto Sonia. ]

Have you heard about two people who look the same appearing here?

[She nods as he talks, keeping the information for later perusal.]

I have heard about dopplegangers, but not as it applies to here, sorry. What does this have to do with Leaf-san?

The doppelgänger part has nothing to do with her, but-- before, there was a guy who was here looked like Silver with the same name, and Leaf... we found out she lives in the house I do, with the same house number and everything!

Sometimes, things like that happen. There's a, er... multiple words, so sometimes you get two people who look the same, or someone who...apparently lives in your house. [ That's still weird to think about. ] For all I know, Cilan and me could be from different worlds too!

Oh! You mean alternate realities! Yes, that is a common theory on my world. There are Earths where things didn't happen or happened differently. It's amazing to think that one little change could completely make everything different from what you know.

Right! I don't know what happened differently in Leaf's world. She grew up with the same neighbours as I did, and she became a pokémon trainer the same time as them too, which I when I became a trainer as well. I don't know what the big difference is supposed to be there except Leaf lives in Pallet Town and I don't...

--Oh, but there's two people just as I described still here. There's a woman called Milla who works at the restaurant From The Hearth, and then there's another Milla. They have really big, long blonde hair. You'll probably catch them around the city sometime!

Well, the differences are obviously that you are male and she's female and that your towns have different names. But, she could be your replacement in the other reality.

But I don't think I've ever see those two ladies. I will have to see if I can meet them both. Are there any differences that are noticeable in them?

Oh no, both of our towns are called Pallet Town! It's just she's there and I'm [ uh ] somewhere else.

As for the Millas... they act differently from what I remember. The one who doesn't work at the restaurant has a piece of blue hair that sticks out at the side. [ And he motions a piece going out. ] That Milla's a special person in her world too--she's what's called the Lord of Spirits, a type of life in her world!

It's alternate realities then! That's lovely!

So, one is all powerful and the the other is a chef? That is a very interesting twist on what could be changed if certain things were different.

I'm not sure if she was a chef back home--you'd have to ask her about that. [ He gives a quick look where they are. ] She might even be somewhere here today. A few of the people who work here all come from the same world -- or worlds.

[ In this case. ]

I remember a while back, when there was another trainer here that Cilan seemed to be close to... he told me about this strange rule they have about starter pokémon. If he and Cilan knew each other from the same world, then we couldn't be from the same one. He said new trainers picked one of three types, when, well, I had a choice between three -- but that's because just the professor who offered out the pokémon had them. Not because of any special reason.

I have heard that there are groups of people that come from the same world, that my classmates and I are not alone in that respect. It would be fascinating to discover how true that is for others stuck here.

[She blinks at his explanation.]

So, for every country and world there are different rules for trainers that are starting out. That makes sense, of course, but why would they be so vastly different?

You can get most pokémon in a region if you look for them. There's a popular Pokémon House too for abandoned pokémon that people sometimes adopt from, so why every trainer would have to pick from three specific pokémon... [ He shakes his head, about as knowledgeable to the answer as she, even with his expertise. ]

When he was telling me about it, he said he was from a different region from me, but he told me it was the same in the region I'm from, Kanto. He knew a guy from there-- actually... [ ah! ] I think it's the same guy that's one of Cilan's best friends! Ash! So he and Cilan must've known each other from the same world!
