[Nope, Sonia's definitely missed everyone else running in terror at the Pokémon's arrival.

In fact, she is joining Gengar in clapping in excitement, sparkling appreciation everywhere. She turns at the sound of a familiar face, a huge smile on her face.]

Oh, yes, you asked me if I wanted to meet a ghost and then this one suddenly appeared from my shadow! It was wonderful to behold!

Great! I told her it was okay to be a little spooky with you. [ Horror fan and all. He moves over to his gengar, the ground now normalised to where Sonia's shadow is facing the correct way, but still the air nice and chilled. ]

This is gengar, one of the ghost type pokémon I told you about! She's part poison too, but the ghost part stands out more to everyone.

[ And matters more with them. Gengar's flicking her claws at the sides of her head as if brushing out hair like a total diva, but all that comes are small wisps of smoke that Red has to step away from. ] Hey, hey!

Her appearance was very terrifying! [But she doesn't sound scared at all. What a weirdo.]

Hello, Gengar-san. It is lovely to meet you finally. Red-san has told me a bit about you before today.

[Sonia lets out a little laugh at the Pokémon's actions.]

She seems very lively.

She always gets like this when she meets someone with long hair. [ Which, by the way, she's circling around you now, Sonia, coming to spring and mess around that piece of hair from before. Tra-ala-la~ ] I don't know why! She gets the same way with my jynx too-- that's a pokémon that has long hair. It's a strange one.

[ --ah! Which reminds him suddenly, Gengar reacting instantly with his surprise by putting up her claws and looking shocked. ] I still haven't showed you my pokédex! I didn't bring it today either... I have to show you it sometime!

Then she would appreciate most of the females in my class. Only Koizumi-san and Nanami-san have short hair.

[And since she's spent a great deal of her life with people dressing both her body and her hair, she doesn't even blink as the Pokémon floats around to play with her hair.]

I am flattered that you remembered that, Red-san, but there is no rush in showing me. How are you today? It's awfully sunny for a ghost to appear.

It's sunny, but she can suck up all the heat in the air, so it's pretty refreshing to have her around! She loves the water balloon game too.

[ Did somebody say water balloon? She hovers to the side of them both, opening her mouth and her tongue rolling out, and she reaches in to present one before them. Pieces of ice stick to it, and some strange purple ooze that--

whoops. It pops the balloon, and all the water and some strange purple sludge falls down. And before Red can get out her name to scold her, she's flinging herself down with that open mouth to swallow it all back up, staying halfway inside the sand. Eheheh!! ]

Gengar... [ SIIGGH. ] Anyway! What about you, Sonia? Did you go to the dance last night? Did you see Cilan?

Oh! That would be most convenient on a day like today. I admit that I have been considering going swimming to cool down until you two showed up.

[Sonia watches the display, amused at the Pokémon's behavior. Despite it's slightly gruesome side.]

I did go last night. It was a great deal of fun. Especially when I actually got to dance.

[gottacatch]

Yeah [ instantly, a fond smile lights up on his face ], dancing with him was really fun! Did he explain his costume and act like a spirit person to you too?

Yes, he did! It was a great deal of fun! And his costume was very interesting. I'm afraid that mine might have seemed plain next to his.

[gottacatch]

It couldn't have been plainer than mine. I went in a waiter outfit. [ Haha. ] He doesn't even like ghost types. It was a surprise to see him pretend to be one--

[ The word barely gets out when Gengar abruptly giggles gleefully, bouncing and waving her little claws from out of her shadow, the noise of angry voices sounding in the distance.

A close distance, as a few figures can be seen storming their way, arms outstretched with accusing fingers pointing that prompts Gengar to stick out her tongue. So about all those people who got scared earlier... ]

Err-- hey, Sonia! Wanna take a ride to the other side of the beach? Our treat!

[ Oh, oh, a ride? Out pops Gengar, her shadow shifting forward as, with her arms out like those tiny things could carry anything, the darkness forms into a more menacing claw shape in front of her.

... does that look inviting. ]

Oh, well, I was a fairy. I didn't see you there, Red-san. I was hoping to dance with you and the others as well. [She pauses and blinks at Red's comment.] He doesn't? I wonder why he hasn't said something about it before now to me then? We have discussed the many ghost types that are available on your world.

[Way to make her feel terrible that one of the topics she finds so interesting is one that Cilan can't stand.

But at the sound of the ruckus, she looks up and sees a group of people running in the general direction of where she and Red are standing.]

A-ah, yes, I would love that! [Of course it looks inviting! Sonia takes a step forward so that Gengar can reach her easily.]

[ Sorry, all that about faeries and ghosts shall have to wait, Sonia. Picking up the princess is an easy feat for the ghost-type, the claw made from her energy swiftly disappearing into the ground and then popping under her feet to take her bridal style, with Gengar bringing herself up close to the girl. Hiiiii.

As for Red, he... does something strange, which is sinking a foot through Gengar's body with no hesitation until it suddenly stops, and he wraps a hand around one of those spiky ears (or what are probably ears. Are they ears? Who knows), leaning in hunched against her. A black belt tugs itself around his waist from Gengar, and this--

--this is definitely the weirdest trio on the beach by now. But please, stop and stare another time. ] Let's go, Gengar!

[ They've got an escape from trouble to make!! Only Red will have to worry about a bumpy start, his other hand coming to join the one holding on as the three of them speed ahead, with Gengar being very nice to Sonia that she can enjoy the ride with the wind blowing through her hair and everywhere else. It's almost like having a car ride, if you squint and use your imagination and say it is. And hey, the view is rather nice if one looks out towards the lake between the bodies of people either oblivious or picking up on this weird moving blob.

What a lovely time.

And that's your interesting activity for the day, that once they've made more than enough distance from the deck chairs and anybody who would have a few words to say about monstrous demon looking to eat them (or now there might be more), Gengar brings them to a stop, letting Red's feet find the ground once he gives her the signal to let him go, and as for Sonia, she gets the treatment where the shadowy surface at her lower body 'drops', bringing her into a more seated position like a chair. Please rise from your cold, shadowy throne, Your Highness. ]

That's a little trick we learned here-- sometimes, you've gotta make a quick getaway!

[ Don't ask. ]

[Sonia laughs as she's picked up and carried by the ghost Pokémon with Red. She doesn't even care that others are staring and pointing and there's a group chasing after them, yelling. Nope, this is a great deal of fun and she's determined to enjoy it.]

Oh, yes! Sometimes it's expedient to run if you must! I know that well.

[Even if she's talking about something a little different than an angry mob out for blood. Souda doesn't want make her afraid, after all.]

[ Expedient? Well, it sounds like the right word for the occasion, and so Red just laughs and grins with a nod. The view of where they are is no less nice, a few eyes lingering their way before returning to their activities. ]

It's the same back home too when you're travelling. You never know what trouble you're going to find yourself in!

[ With only the smallest of thoughts for it, Red plops himself down on the hot sand, Gengar, with her shadows now tucked around her in a small pool about her feet, copies the motion somewhere at his side, but acting like her shadow was a pool of water, flipping over onto her back and...floating...

Red doesn't pay it any mind though, gazing up at Sonia and then reaching out to the sand near to him. ]

Hey, maybe you can help me out with something. I'll make it worth it--an ice cream or drink of your choice!

[Well, Sonia speaks so formally that she uses a lot of words that no one else does. However, it doesn't even register to her that her manner of speaking is strange or different.]

I take it that you find trouble often, Red-san?

[Once they stop, Sonia sits down primly on the sand, not paying attention to the heat as she watches Gengar move around in her own shadow. When Red speaks, she turns her head, hair whipping around like something possessed for a minute before it settles down.]

If there's anything that I can do to help you, I would be glad to offer my assistance. You only need ask, Red-san! No payment is required.

[ He answers her with a non-committal dubious hum before laughing. Life has interesting surprises.

But, onward to snacks- ]

It'll be my treat! It's the perfect weather for it after all, and you're a friend! [ So no fuss necessary. ] Anyway, I wanted to surprise Cilan before the festival was over, and I was thinking...would a pokémon battle while he's pretending to be a spirit would be fun?

[ Ah, he's already getting embarrassed, rubbing at his neck. ] But I don't know if that's enough when my costume's just a waiter's outfit, and I'm not good at acting like Cilan!

[properprincess]

[She looks at him and then a bright smile breaks out on her face.]

You are asking me to help you stage a battle with Cilan-san during the rest of this festival?! I would love that! When do you wish to do this?

[gottacatch]

[ He doesn't relax entirely with her positive response, but he does by plenty despite that, a small breath releasing to hear that it wasn't as stupid as he thought it might sound outside his head. Gengar splashes at her shadows like water, more along with Sonia's own sudden eagerness than Red's mood. ]

On the last night! That gives me time to make plans today. I want to make it...special, something that'll he remember! It's short notice, but [ his gaze moves to the ground, lips pinching and his head nodding ] if I can make it as flashy as possible like the masquerade, and find a good spot... maybe out here-- [ Here, gaze now moving out to the rest of the open space ] there has to be a way I can put something together to make him happy.

[ His fingers flex slowly, remembering the dancing, the stumbling and the good mood all around him and inside his own chest. Feeling suddenly self-conscious of himself and how unrestrained he had been with his emotions that night, Red straightens, only a small, soft warmth emanating from him as he smiles cheerily to Sonia. ]

I like to do something nice for Cilan once in a while. And I figured you might know how to make put on a good show! [ Ah- ] Maybe you can be a part of it too!

[ How? Well, that's why they're talking about it now! ]

[This is far from a bad idea. It's the second best thing she's heard since he asked her if she wanted to meet a ghost!]

Hm, if you wish to make me a part of it, then why don't I issue the challenge on your behalf? We can make a great production out of the entire thing, saying that the ghostly fiend has replaced our dear friend. I am sure that you and Gengar would make a fearsome team against him and Pansage-san. At least for the evening.

[ Issuing a challenge? His thoughts pull him upward, mouth slightly parted as he tries to imagine the...play being put in place here. Which was the whole idea, but it's still remarkably beyond anything he's ever tried to do.

But it's only for a moment, before he returns to Sonia again. ]

You said you were a fairy princess or something like that, didn't you? [ Hm... ] What kind of person could Cilan be to you? Not just a friend-- should he have some kind of a special title too?

Like...your knight! Or your cook!

[properprincess]

[She watches his mind work and smiles as he thinks things through.]

Yes, of course. I am the princess of all the fairies in my garb. But, Red-san, Cilan-san is my champion, someone more trusted than just a knight. He is companion, warrior and beloved confidante.

[gottacatch]

Oh? [ ...There's a role like that? Well, Sonia's getting really into this apparently by picking that so easily, so- ] Alright! Champion it is! That fits perfect!

[ In a sense, though he's reminded of the time that Cilan had spoken about the movie he had starred in, and hadn't he been some type of wizard? It pulls a funny smile on his face, while otherwise, he considers what they've got so far.

... which the two of them being rather a perfect match, and he, well-- a princess announcing a waiter persona sounds so... not right.

... ]

[ And then a thought comes ever so suddenly, Red letting it spring out of his mouth as it forms: ]

Hey! Since he's your champion, why don't you challenge the spirit? The princess fighting for the one she cares about sounds more exciting than whatever I could be!

[properprincess]

[Sonia cocks her head to the side in thought as she digests what he's said.]

It's a sound plan except for one flaw, Red-san. I have no Pokémon with which to challenge him to a duel. And the Dark Devas might be formidable, but they are not truly mine to order into battle.

[gottacatch]

[ He shakes his head, her point not deflating him in the slightest. ]

I'll give you one of mine to battle! I'll still be around to keep an eye on what's going on, but my pokémon are as good of fighters as Cilan's, and I know what pokémon he has and what to look out for.

And if it's you giving the challenge, I know he'll battle to match your level, so you won't have to worry about being at a disadvantage from not being a trainer. You might even have fun!

[ That would be a good thing! But oh, Gengar's making noises at their back, little stumpy arms half out on the hand with her body now sunk below, watching them with interest. She heard 'battle', she likes that word!! ]
