Which can be one and the same thing, and Red's sure finding it a fun time. Also, apparently the spade (♠) table found itself with the most prettiest girl ever, oh our word?? Really, Red isn't entirely starting conversations based on looks here, but it's a pretty good incentive in deciding to get her attention, taking a look at her name tag and then trying to catch her eye. ]

'Sonia'? [ Hello, hello, please notice us in our chair here. ] Did I say that right?

[ He has a name tag too, of course. Can you believe his name is Red? Because that's what it says. ]

[When she'd entered the room and saw all the different people, she'd been almost overwhelmed, but soon she had everything explained to her and was sorted into a group to talk to newcomers. Besides, the food and drink look wonderful and now she has the chance to meet new friends!

Her name is called and she looks up to see a boy in a hat. His name tag says... that can't be right, can it?]

Ah, yes, my name is Sonia. And you are Red? Is that a nickname?

Nope, it's the full thing. Like the colour! Easy to remember, right?

[ It's not everyday you get questioned about your name, but Red takes it easily enough, the idea of having his name for a nickname a little funny in his head. ]

Did you show up here this month? I've been here for nearly a year now. ...or something like that. [ Aha. ] I stopped keeping track long ago.

Ah, yes, that would be very easy to remember. I've never met someone named specifically after a color. Is that common in your country?

[She's doing the small talk thing. It's something she's learned to do and she's kinda good at it. Besides, that's what one does as a meeting party, yes?]

Ah, no, I have been here...[She stops to think about it.] Two months now! I arrived in time for the Flower Festival. Someone even nominated me for the Flower Queen, though now I'm almost certain that it was in jest. But that allowed me to meet more interesting people as well, so it was not a total loss either.

It's not that common, but it isn't unusual. The guy who lived next to me was called Green, and his sister is named after a flower! I've heard a lot of interesting names where I'm from.

[ He might've asked if a flower name was peculiar to her as well, but maybe later if the topic of names comes up again. Instead, he gets into the topic of the festival: ]

Oh, I missed that! [ Then again, he wasn't interested in that portion of the festival at all. ] Are you sure someone didn't do it because they thought you had a shot? I don't remember how it worked, but weren't pictures included of the nominees to encourage people to vote for who they liked? It had to be a friend you made before the festival started!

[ Who else would have a picture? If he was right. ]

Being named after flowers is fairly common for girls, I've found on my world. But it is nice that you have so many different names on your world. It can be confusing when you know many people with the same first name.

[Her name means nothing as cool as a color or plant. Unless one is going back to ancient Hindi for hair colors.]

I...I don't know. I know that pictures were required and whomever nominated me had a very nice picture selected, but I cannot think of whom it could have been. Hinata-san and Komaeda-san aren't really the types to do such things. However, if someone had not done that, I would never have had the chance to meet Cilan-san.

So, even though I did not win, I gained something from it!

[ What are all those names with '-san' attached to them? And it takes him a second for him to realise where he's heard that suffix before, but it's meaningless next to the surprise that lights up on his face for the actual names they're attached to. ]

You mean Hinata with the brown hair that sticks up [ he even makes a gesture, definitely meaning his ahoge ], Komaeda with the white hair everywhere, and the Pokémon Trainer Cilan? The one with green hair and Pansage?

But with the way that he describes her friends, she can't help but clap happily while laughing.]

Yes! Hinata-san and Komaeda-san are classmate of mine from home! They have been a great help to me, as well as Kirigiri-san, since my arrival! And that is exactly who I mean! Cilan-san even allowed me to meet his Pokémon that day!

Cilan is a great friend of mine -- he's my best friend, even! [ Definitely the right people to bring up! ] I'm a trainer like him too, and as for Komaeda and Hinata, I've been getting to know them more lately as well. They're interesting guys.

[ He thinks to mention that he knows about her school as well, but holds form it, because... was that actually a good subject to bring up? Maybe not. Instead- ]

Is Kirigiri another classmate? I didn't know there were more people from Komaeda and Hinata's world than them!

You are also a Pokémon trainer? Are you also a Connoisseur like Cilan-san?!

No, no -- Cilan's one of a kind! He's the only Conni-- Connoisseur and Gym Leader here! I'm just a normal trainer!

[ Which sounds pitiful but he's okay with really?? ]

So, he is indeed unique, even on his own world! He tried to explain it to me, but it was a very loud and crowded time waiting for the announcements during the festival.

[She looks deep in thought, but there is a slight smile on her face as well.]

If you're a trainer, then you've been to his gym and he has helped you expand your horizons, yes? Do you have a full team of Pokémon as well? I would like to see them if you do.

Sure, I'll be happy to let you meet my pokémon sometime [ sans one and maybe not in a crowded restaurant ] but I've never been to Cilan's gym, actually. We're from two entirely different countries far away from each other.

[ A beat, and his own intensity dials up- ] But I'd love to go there and check it out! Has he told you how he and his brothers have a restaurant as a part of it that people watch the matches from? There's no gym like that in my region! It must be amazing to watch!

That would be wonderful. You have different ones from the one that he has, yes? He told me that there are many different types of Pokémon on your world.

[Um, you have a dragon, Red. She wants to see them all, even if Charizard is a bad idea.

Her own excitement ramps up when he starts to talk about the other trainer's gym.]

No, he hasn't told me about that, but it makes some sense! It sounds like dinner and a show like that, a form of entertainment for those not directly involved. You should ask him if he would be interested in having something like that here as well!

That's right! There's over six hundred, and all of Cilan's pokémon are Unovan pokémon, where mine are Kanto pokémon!

[ Maybe you can find them in different regions too but whatever!!

But oh, a dinner and gym type mix here? ...He thinks about it, looking upwards briefly. ]

Would it work? The technology here isn't the same as back home; all the gym buildings seem constructed to take any damage you can hit them with because of how dangerous moves can be... and there isn't that many trainers or people who work with creatures here.

[That causes her to think properly, deeply and with a finger against her lips.]

Perhaps you can have outdoor exhibitions with dinner or lunch attached. Something where people curious about the Pokémon can come and watch them perform moves and even meet the less dangerous ones. That way, the trainers can show off their teams and Cilan-san will have the chance to showcase his cooking.

I have heard it is very good from a few people here.

[ 'Less dangerous'... who would be less dangerous out of any of his pokémon? And if all the trainers have the usual competitive spirit to win... ]

Mmm... I think it would be better to ask Cilan about it. He would have more experience and an idea of how safe it'd be. [ He lifts a hand in gesture as he continues. ] If more people worked with the creatures here, there'd be more to show off, and more people could participate too! But, I don't know if the people here are really ready to try that yet...

[ Make friends with the monsteeerrs, guuuys. ]

[She nods while he speaks, thinking about how to set it up.]

That is a good idea. Of course Cilan-san would have the most experience with a situation like that. But I do think it would be a worthwhile effort to attempt it.

As for other people getting and taming the animals of this world, do you really think it's possible? There are very few people on my world who are able to truly communicate with animals and are highly revered for their skills at doing so.

I don't think it's impossible! [ He's not loud, but there's a certainty in his voice, his expression, right from the moment he speaks that makes it stand out. ] I know a lot are more dangerous than people like, but with dunamis being introduced to the island and the constant research done to understand more about them, we could be doing a lot more with learning how to live with them, either with them in the wild or as a pet or partner!

Think about it. The people here use dogs to protect themselves and horses to travel around, but what if they kept stronger creatures to protect their fields or to move around? There's flying types here you can use to too -- I've even befriended one. I let them stay living in the wild, but we have an understanding where we help each other. The creatures here aren't the same as one another: sure, some might be harder to get along with -- maybe they'll be impossible for us to get their respect, or only the most skilled of trainers would be able to. But they're not all going to be like that, and I think even something like dunamis could be used for anyone on the island to learn how to form a connection with them.

All you'll need is the dedication to do it, and the people willing to try it. It could completely change the relationship between creatures and people!

Perhaps so, but I don't believe that I have the right temperament to try and tame animals. I'm only so good with the Dark Devas because their former master trained them so well. And I am merely taking care of them until he returns.

My skills are much better for ruling than taming.

[And the way that she says that is so natural that she doesn't even notice that it might be odd.]

[Do you like hamsters, Red? Because they're now sitting on her shoulders and in front of her on the table. Just appearing out of nowhere. They were in her hair before.]

Ah! Here they are! Would you like for me to introduce you to them?

[ First: what. Except that utter confusion from Sonia's explanation doesn't have long to live when the hamsters make their sudden appearance, and woah, hamsters?!

They're creatures. Of course he's totally loving them right on the spot.]

[Look, Gundam was definitely a chuuni and Sonia is merely parroting his crap, because for reasons. Real reasons. But aren't they adorable? THE ABSOLUTE CUTEST!

She points to the fat one resting on her shoulder.] This one is "Invading Black Dragon" Cham-P. [The spotted one napping on her other shoulder already.] This is "Mirage Silver Falcon" Jum-P. [The mostly brown one staring at him intently from the table.] "Steel Red Elephant" Maga-G. [The last, which has found a peanut from the table and is going to eat it.] And, last but not least, "Star-destroyer Grey Fox" Sun-D.

[She beams at him as if it's super natural to be covered in hamsters.]
